Pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription


Sign in to Services & subscriptions at account.microsoft.com using your Microsoft account. Then:

1.    Find your past-due subscription within the list and choose Pay currently.

2.    Update your payment method: If your master card, PayPal, or alternative on-line payment service has terminated, update it with the new expiration date.

3.     Add a brand new payment method: If your payment possibility is not valid otherwise you need to vary it, add a brand new thanks to pay. You cannot procure a past-due subscription with a present card, subscription card, or along with your Microsoft account balance.


4.    Once your payment possibility is ready, choose Next to form the payment.

Renew your Microsoft subscription

  1. Sign in to Services & subscriptions along with your Microsoft account.

  1. Locate the subscription you wish to renew. If you cannot realize it on the list, see if it is a Microsoft subscription or from a 3rd party.
  1. If you've got a subscription that does not auto-renew, choose activate auto-renew then follow the directions. 
  1. If you see Manage rather than activate auto-renew, which means your subscription already has auto-renew turned on.
  1. Note: Some subscriptions cannot be modified to auto-renew. If you do not see activate auto-renew, then you'll purchase a brand new subscription at Microsoft Store to feature longer to your existing subscription. 
  1. If your subscription is not operating and auto-renew is already enabled, you will have a past-due balance.   • However, you can update your payment info and buy a new subscription when your prepaid subscription expires. 
On Xbox One
You can use your Xbox One to change how you pay for subscriptions.



  • On your console, select System > Settings > Account Subscriptions. You may be asked to sign in again to protect your account.
  • Choose the subscription, then select Change how you pay. If your subscription is past due, select Pay now.
  • Choose an existing payment option or select Add a new way to pay, then follow the instructions.

Add, update, or remove credit cards and other ways to pay

Add a payment method

  • To add a card or other payment method to your Microsoft account online:
    • Sign in to your Payment options.
    • Select Add payment option.
    • Fill in the required fields, then select Next. If you don't see any more prompts, you're done.
  • To add a card or other payment method to your Microsoft account using Xbox One:
    • Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the payment option to add.
    • Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the guide, then select Settings.
    • Under Account, select Payment & billing.
    • Under Payment options, select Add a payment option.
    • Choose a payment option and follow the instructions.
  • Note: These steps are for adding a payment option that's not tied to an Xbox subscription.

Update payment method

  • To update your credit card or other payment info for your Microsoft account online:
    • Sign in to your Payment options.
    • Pick a payment method, and select Edit info.
    • Type your updated info. Payment options used to pay for a subscription can be edited, but can't be removed until you change how you pay for the subscription. Subscriptions or other services associated with the payment option can be found next to Card info.
    • When you've made your changes, select Next. You're done unless you see more prompts.
  • To update your credit card or other payment info for your Microsoft account using Xbox One:
    • Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the payment option to update.
    • Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the guide, then select Settings.
    • Under Account, select Payment & billing.
    • Under Payment options, scroll right to the payment option you want to update, then select Edit info.
    • Update payment option details, then select Save.
  • Note: These steps are for updating a payment option that's not tied to an Xbox subscription.

Remove payment method


  • To remove a card or other payment method from your Microsoft account online:
    • Sign in to your Payment options.
    • Choose a payment method, and select Remove. Payment options used to pay for a subscription can't be removed until you change how to pay for the subscription. Subscriptions or other services associated with the payment option can be found next to Card info.
  • To remove a card or other payment method from your Microsoft account using Xbox One:
    • Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the payment option to remove.
    • Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the guide, then select Settings.
    • Under Account, select Payment & billing.
    • Under Payment options, scroll right to the payment option you want to update, then select Remove.
    • Select Yes, Remove to confirm payment option removal.
